Who signs off on every score

Carlos Gil
Founder & Chief Research Officer
Expertise: Email strategy, campaign optimization, deliverability
Carlos Gil founded BestSends after two decades inside marketing teams that bought email software on vendor promises instead of evidence. He is the author of The End of Marketing (Kogan Page) and has spent 20+ years in B2B and consumer marketing, including in-house roles at LinkedIn, GetResponse, BMC Software, Winn-Dixie, and Save-A-Lot. Through Gil Media Co. he has run email and campaign programs for Western Union, DocuSign, Hertz, Meta, Salesforce, and Adobe. At BestSends he sets the testing methodology, opens and pays for every test account, runs the deliverability seed lists, and signs off on every published score. His focus areas are list growth strategy, campaign optimization, and inbox placement — the three things that decide whether an email platform actually earns its price.

How the team stays independent
We earn affiliate commissions when you use our links. That never influences a score or a ranking, and sponsored content is always labelled. Every reviewer works from paid production accounts on our own domains, and no vendor sees a score before you do. The full rubric, conflict-of-interest policy and corrections process live on our methodology page.
